PRAYING FOR MIRACLES

“You are the God who performs miracles; you display you power among the peoples” (Psalm 77:14).

Newton Walkin

Newton Walkin was brought up in a Christian home. He is a member of West Croydon Baptist Church (WCBC), Croydon, England, which was founded in 1869 by Dr James Spurgeon, the brother of Charles Spurgeon. The ideas in this book are entirely those of the author based on his research and do not represent in any way the views of any other church, organisation or ministry.  In July 1999 Walkin had a vision to read the Bible from cover to cover seven times, which he did by March 2001. That vision gave a passion for the Bible and also inspired his

writing. Walkin believes strongly in the awesome power of intercessory prayer offered in faith. He believes that if our faith is strong enough we can successfully pray for miracles. On November 21, 2004 seven months before the voting on July 6, 2005, Walkin wrote a prayer for London to win the 2012 Olympic Bid. The prayer is shown on page 433 of his book. On page 434 of his book there is an Olympic Prayer For Peaceful Games in 2012.

From July 1999 to December 2006, Walkin has achieved by God’s generous grace, his vision to read the Holy Bible from cover to cover twenty-one times and he has documented these readings on spreadsheets, shown in Appendix II. Although from a Christian home, Walkin had stopped going to church for a time, when his wife Eileen encouraged him to attend church again with her regularly. They were both baptized on March 11, 2001 at WCBC. On that occasion 14 persons gave their lives to the Lord by their public testimony through baptism. Now retired, Newton was Executive Officer in the British Civil Service. His hobbies include amateur photography, (and has a rich collection of pictures such as seascapes, landscapes, local markets, carnivals, etc.), listening to Christian music, watching or listening to evangelistic Bible teachers and preachers on radio and television. He likes to attend Christian conferences where he can sing aloud and make a joyful noise to the Lord. Newton is a business and management graduate and has gained the coveted Diploma in Marketing of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Before joining the British Civil Service he wanted to teach business studies and marketing after gaining his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the Institute of Education of the University of London. However, the Civil Service beaconed, and Walkin had a career change, where he would dream each day of becoming a famous Christian writer.

Deep interest in the Bible occurred as the result of a supernatural vision:  “One day in July 1999, as I was contemplating the deep mysteries of life, a vision of two great books occurred to me: The Holy Bible, and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare,” says Walkin, “In the vision I was commanded to choose one of these great books and to read it from cover to cover seven times. I joyfully selected The Holy Bible and read it from cover to cover, not only seven times, but twenty-one times.” Walkin’s vision has fired his imagination and he set out intensely studying the Holy Bible with enthusiasm, devotion and faith. He rapidly became an intercessor for the great and famous, and for good causes such as persecuted Christians overseas, Churches, Christian organisations as well as those in authority. Walkin soon realized that there were too few Christians who had not read their Bibles from cover to cover. It, therefore, quickly became a fundamental part of his ministry to encourage others through his writings. Walkin believes that the Lord has truly blessed him spiritually with love and faith in a most generous way and he hopes, through God’s abundant grace, to share that Christian love with others in his Christian work and daily living. May our Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit pour out showers of blessings in your life, and use you to be a blessing to others. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
